Back to Basics

Green building has always been the common sense way to build. It means working with Nature’s gifts rather than working to outsmart them. Somewhere along the way, we got too busy and too far removed from the tried and true practices by which our grandparents lived. Certainly, technology has come a long way, but it’s the simple approach of yesteryear that continues to make the most sense when it comes to sustaining our limited resources and building healthy, affordable buildings. It’s not rocket science. It’s Back to Basics.

We are often asked, “Which certification is best for my project?” The answer depends on the overall project goal and intentions. The nationally recognized rating system, LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), was developed by the U.S. Green Building Council. In addition to LEED, Florida projects have the choice of following certification standards set forth by the Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC).
